If you are a federal employee who received a message offering you a new deferred resignation option, we urge you to take your time and consider all of the possible implications.

There are many issues to think through, and the guidance from the Administration is not clear. We have posted some considerations to help you evaluate this option.

You should also consult with your union if you are represented by one. You have until February 6 to decide, so we encourage you to take the time to gather all relevant information and make an informed decision.

A coalition of unions representing government employees is asking a Federal Court to pause and extend the deadline of Trump Administration’s “Fork Directive” program before a February 6 deadline that seeks to force federal employees to accept an arbitrary, unlawful, short-fused ultimatum buy-out program.

In a legal challenge filed today, the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE), AFGE Local 3707, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, (AFSCME), and the National Association of Government Employees (NAGE) represented by Democracy Forward, are seeking a to halt the Trump-Vance administration’s “Fork Directive” Feb. 6 deadline and require the government to articulate a policy that is lawful, rather than an arbitrary, unlawful, short-fused ultimatum which workers may not be able to enforce.
