State-by-State Guide: Unemployment Benefits & Other Resources for Former Federal Employees

If your federal employment is terminated, your unemployment benefits may differ based on your state of residence. The Federal Employee Education and Assistance Fund’s website has links to each state’s unemployment office where you can learn more about state-specific eligibility guidelines. 

Several states across the country, the District of Columbia, and congressional offices have also developed resources specifically targeted to support recently terminated federal employees, including information on unemployment benefits, job banks, know your rights, and mental health resources.
